"The Friendliest Club in the World"
The D.N.R. Hunters Safety program consists of two Saturday classes. The program begins with instruction on safety with firearms, bow, crossbows, and tree-stands. Instruction on weather safety including, but not limited to heat stroke, hypothermia, and wind chill. Instruction on orienteering which covers map reading and the use of a compass. Hunters role and responsibilty in today's society are also covered. The latest hunting and trapping rules and regulations are discussed.
The second Saturday provides hands-on experience for each participant. Students will have an opportunity to shoot shotgun and bow, also they will test their knowlege of the use of the compass.
A written test is required by the Michigan D.N.R.E. After successfully completeing the course, students are awarded their certificate which they can present to purchase their first hunting license.
- No pre-registration required
- Students enroll prior to the first class.
- Registration beings at 7:15
- Parents may stay for the class, but not neccesary unless the student is under 10 years of age.
